The IT-Cluster
Kaiserslautern has made good use of the potentialoffered by its universities and research institutes, and has consistently evolved into an IT site.
Nobody can escape information and communications technology – in other words, IT. During the past few years, it has pervaded all domains and areas of life and will continue to lead to fundamental changes. With its numerous application possibilities, for example in the areas of automotive technology, production technology, telecommunications, and medical technology, IT undoubtedly belongs among the future-oriented technologies of the 21st century.
Many innovative IT companies have settled in the region of Kaiserslautern. In the PRE-Park alone, over 75 companies with almost 2500 employees from the information and communications domain have found an attractive site. The impressive IT research and development potential includes, among others, the Technical University, a University of Applied Sciences with a branch in Zweibrücken, a Fraunhofer Center, soon a Max Planck Institute, as well as the German Center for Artificial Intelligence DFKI.
In Kaiserslautern, information and communications technology has become one of the essential elements of site marketing. The IT Cluster Kaiserslautern offers an open platform, which enables mutual support, cooperation, and knowledge transfer through networked communication between the partners. The network bundles the partners' competencies in three important information and communications technology application areas:
| IT-Media | Vehicle Technologies | Assisted Living |
